As reported by the Task Team at the meeting on July 10 at the Provincial People's Committee, the implementation of 2017 program activities of Ninh Thuan basically met the tally criteria. Especially, it is one of the provinces with relatively high outcome of water supply connection, accounting for one third of the total Program indicator. In addition, several existing shortcomings which may negatively affect the disbursement progress in 2018 were addressed by the TT members such as delayed distribution of on-lending loan, unapproved adjustment of the water supply investment portfolio, and many unimplemented communication for behavior change and capacity building activities due to unallocated funding, etc.
In order to boost the activity progress, Mr. Luu Xuan Vinh, PPC Chairman, directed the involved units to coordinate with the relevant provincial departments and agencies to complete the procedures for on-lending loan distribution for early funding allocation to the implementing units; check the validity of the water supply connection number to meet the given tally criteria; and promote the communication activities for awareness raising targeting to the communes registering the commune-wide sanitation as planned in 2018.
In the afternoon, the Task Team worked with the provincial departments / agencies implementing the program (including the Department of Education and Training, Centers for Disease Control and Implementation Unit for Capacity Development and ODA Water Resources Projects in Ninh Thuan Province (MCDU)) at the MCDU’s office. The meeting contents included reporting on the program implementation in 2017, review on the activity progress in 2018, expected results and demand for water supply and commune-wide sanitation in the remaining period of the project.
The Results-based Scaling up Rural Sanitation and Water Supply Program is financed by the World Bank for 21 provinces of the Northern Mountainous, Central Highland and South Central regions in the 2016 – 2021 period.
