At the meeting, the results of communication and community development activities in 2017 and plan for 2018 were presented by the respective representatives of the PMUs. Accordingly, there were 36 communication activities carried out in 2017 by MCDU to raise awareness on climate change for different target groups in the province, attracting 13,158 participants (including 1,432 women and 860 people from ethnic minorities). Through these activities, the community has gained a better understanding of project, activity implementation progress; their awareness of the causes, impacts of climate change as well as the resilience and mitigation measures has been increased; the community and private sectors have been mobilized to participate climate change impact reduction activities; and the people have been provided with knowledge and capacity in climate change resilience and mitigation.
In 2018, within the project framework, the communication activities are oriented towards sustainability when the project is coming to its closure phase. In addition, the coordination with the local authorities shall be strengthened for the propaganda purposes during the while- and post-construction phases of the pilot works.
Also, the TSU’s Communication experts shared their skills and experience of writing website news, developing lessons learned, and documenting lessons to share with variety of target people within the project framework.
