The workshop participation was inclusive of the representatives from the Provincial People’s Committee; the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Planning and Investment, Construction, Health, Education and Training; Committee for Ethnic Affairs; Centre for Rural Water Supply and Sanitation; Centre for Diseases Control, the leaders of District People’s Committee, Office of Training and Education, Women Union and Heath Centre of Ninh Hai, Ninh Phuoc, Bac Ai, Thuan Nam, Thuan Bac, Ninh Son and the leaders from the participating Communal People’s Committees of the program, namely: Phuoc Nam, Phuoc Dinh. Thanh Hai, Vinh Hai, Nhon Hai, Phuoc Thai, Tan Hai and Hoa Son.
The workshop, organized into two main working sessions, attracted the delegates’ interest, including:
(1) Program implementation instruction in 2017: the representatives of Department of Education and Training (DOET), Health Department (DOH) and MCDU presented the implementation progress, activity plans for December 2017 for their respective component.
Accordingly, regarding to the school water supply and sanitation component, DOET is carrying out several activities such as: school selection for sanitation facility construction/repair following the provided criteria; organization of training courses for core officials on school sanitation and Behavior Change Communication programs; Monitoring – reporting; printing communication documents; and other communication activities for kindergarten and primary school students in Tan Hai, Phuoc Thai and Hoa Son communes. Regarding to the environmental sanitation component, DOH shall select from the communes registering the sanitation achievement for the entire commune according to the established program criteria, conduct household toilet connection and construction, develop convenience stores and other communication activities in both the community and the schools at Tan Hai, Phuoc Thai and Hoa Son communes. Regarding to the water supply component, MCDU aims to achieve 5,225 households with connection to water supply; organize consultation workshop on Core Communication Group establishment; hold training courses on water supply work operation and management for the operation companies; and make communication products.
(2) Instructions on enhancing and maintaining ethnic minority people’s involvement in the project implementation, the province’s policies for them and how to mobilize their participation in the project/program stages: shared by Committee for Ethnic Affairs and MCDU.
At the end of the workshop, the delegates were provided with full knowledge to carry out the SupRSWS program, financed by the preferential loan of World Bank and counterpart funding of Vietnamese Government, in a proper manner.
