This is a result of the Development the early warning system in Dinh river basin study under the Integrated Water Resources Management and Urban Development in relation to Climate Change project funded by the Government of Belgium for the province.
The study has been conducted by the Joint name between VAWR and Vietnam AUTECH., JSC since February, 2018. This is a system using modern software MIKE and integrated data management by GIS (Geographic Information System). The software helps to provide warning of downstream flooding and to assist the management and operation of reservoirs in the Dinh River basin. Thence will help the province to manage climate change’s risks more actively. In addition, 11 hydro-meteorological stations at rivers and reservoirs (being operated by IMC) were installed in the project.
According to the above Announcement, the relevant agencies such as the Center for Natural Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, IMC, Hydro-meteorology station are responsible for providing and connecting its database series to the software. Besides, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is in charge of contacting with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the National General Department of Disaster Prevention and Control to integrate the provincial early warning system into the national disaster warning system.
Implementation for Capacity Development and ODA Water Resources Projects in Ninh Thuan Province – as a project investor will take advantage of donors’ funding for implementing training courses and mobilizing support from International specialists in developing the regulations for the studies management and operation.
